Groundbreaking for new facility at Clark International Airport

Lufthansa Technik Philippines, the joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and MacroAsia Corporation, broke ground this Thursday on its new base maintenance facility at Clark International Airport. The center for widebody MRO services will be built on a 157,000-square-meter site, complementing the company’s long-standing presence in Manila, around 100 kilometers away from Clark. Backed by an investment in the three-digit-million-dollar range, it is scheduled to begin operations in 2028 and expected to create around 1,200 highly skilled jobs.

As one of the major aviation infrastructure projects in Clark, the facility will significantly expand Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ base maintenance capacity and will include, among other features, a paint shop and workshops for non-destructive testing. During construction and ramp-up, the company will draw on its technical expertise and proven processes established at its facility at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, where it has successfully provided comprehensive MRO services for more than 25 years.

With both facilities, Lufthansa Technik Philippines is well positioned to meet the growing demand from airline customers across the globe. As Lufthansa Technik’s competence center for widebody aircraft within its worldwide network, Lufthansa Technik Philippines specializes in the MRO of Airbus A330, A340 and A380 as well as Boeing 777 aircraft. With the additional facility in Clark, the company intends to add the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787 to its portfolio.
