Boeing and Icelease sign deal for up to three 767-300 converted freighters
Boeing and Icelease have signed an agreement for one 767-300 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF), with options for up to two additional aircraft, as the Icelandic lessor continues to expand its dedicated freighter portfolio. The first aircraft is scheduled to enter the conversion process in the first quarter of 2027, with delivery planned for the second quarter of the year. The conversion work will be carried out at ST Engineering’s airframe maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities in Singapore, where Boeing will oversee the modification of the aircraft into freighter configurations.
Sigthor Einarsson, Managing Partner, Icelease commented: "This agreement with Boeing to convert up to three Boeing 767 aircraft marks an important milestone for both Icelease and its Dublin-based sister company IAT Leasing. The history between Icelease and Boeing dates over 20 years and includes a multitude of new aircraft deliveries as well as cargo conversions. The Boeing 767-300BCF will join the growing managed cargo aircraft portfolio of IAT Leasing, which already includes seven Boeing 737-800BCF and other freighters leased to various customers."
Lindsey Douglas, vice president, Cabin, Modifications, Maintenance and Digital Services stated: "Icelease is an important partner for our Boeing Converted Freighter programs, and this agreement underlines our continued collaboration to meet global cargo demand. The 767-300BCF is a proven performer in the cargo industry, and we are confident it will continue to deliver value for many years to come."
Boeing and Icelease formalized their agreement during a signing ceremony held on 22 October 2026 at the Cargo Facts Symposium. The 767-300 Boeing Converted Freighter remains the world's most efficient medium widebody converted freighter, offering a payload capacity of 57 tonnes and a range of up to 3,300 nautical miles.
Over the past 21 years, Icelease has established a strong reputation in aircraft acquisition, leasing, operations, finance and investor relations, while cultivating extensive relationships with airlines, lessors, brokers and financial institutions across the global aviation industry. The company shares majority ownership with Dublin-based IAT Leasing, which has rapidly expanded since its launch in late 2023. Today, IAT Leasing manages a portfolio of approximately 40 passenger and cargo aircraft, including both narrowbody and widebody types, backed by four equity partners and placed with airlines worldwide.
