Bosch Building Technologies chosen to deliver integrated security for Deutsche Aircraft’s new production site
Deutsche Aircraft is advancing the next chapter of regional aircraft manufacturing in Europe with the construction of a new production facility at Leipzig/Halle Airport. To support the site's security and safety requirements, the company has selected Bosch Building Technologies to deliver a fully integrated security and life safety solution across the complex, which includes a final assembly line, commissioning hangar, logistics center, and administrative offices.
The facility represents a major milestone for Deutsche Aircraft as it prepares for series production of the D328eco, bringing regional aircraft manufacturing back to Germany for the first time in approximately two decades. As the future home of D328eco final assembly, the Leipzig site will strengthen Germany's role as a hub for advanced regional aviation manufacturing.
Designed around the principles of a smart, connected factory, the new production center provides the technological foundation for efficient, scalable, and future-ready aircraft manufacturing. Bosch Building Technologies has integrated the site's fire detection, intrusion detection, access control, video surveillance, and voice alarm systems into a single intelligent security ecosystem.
At the core of the solution is Building Integration System 360 (BIS 360), Bosch's centralized management platform that consolidates security-related data and enables rapid situational awareness and decision-making. The integrated architecture supports operational efficiency, business continuity, and production scalability as Deutsche Aircraft moves toward full industrialization of the D328eco program.
Sebastian Böhnl, Vice President Operations & Production at Deutsche Aircraft commented: “Each area of our new site has distinct requirements in terms of security, safety, access control, threat management, and organizational protection. We are pleased to have Bosch Building Technologies as a partner. Its extensive experience in highly regulated industrial environments and holistic approach to security align perfectly with the operational needs of a state-of-the-art aircraft manufacturing facility and impressed us from the outset. The integrated solution from Bosch Building Technologies delivers far more than security. It enhances operational efficiency, increases transparency, and supports our long-term growth ambitions. By connecting systems across the entire site, we can streamline management processes while creating a solid foundation for D328eco production in Leipzig.”
Dr. Marcus Nadenau, Senior Vice President of the Building Solutions business unit at Bosch Building Technologies stated: “We are proud to contribute to this landmark project as the partner responsible for technical building security. When highly complex production environments must meet the highest security standards, reliable and intelligently integrated solutions become essential.”
An impressive holistic concept for technical building security
For its new Leipzig production campus, Deutsche Aircraft required more than a collection of standalone security systems. The company sought a comprehensive, future-ready approach capable of addressing the distinct operational demands of aircraft manufacturing, logistics, administration, and aviation operations under a single integrated framework.
Bosch Building Technologies designed and implemented a holistic security concept tailored to the site's specific operational and regulatory requirements. While the administrative offices focus on safeguarding employees, visitors, and sensitive corporate information, the production and logistics areas require robust protection for complex manufacturing processes, critical workflows, and high-value assets. The commissioning hangar introduces an additional layer of complexity, demanding stringent standards for access control, surveillance, and emergency response within an aviation environment.
For Deutsche Aircraft, this integrated strategy is a key enabler of the D328eco program. By connecting security, safety, and operational systems across the entire campus, the solution helps ensure business continuity, infrastructure protection, and efficient site-wide management. The unified architecture also supports seamless production flows and provides the scalability required for future growth.
Bosch views the project as a showcase of how advanced building technologies can support next-generation industrial operations. With extensive expertise in industrial facilities, airports, and aviation infrastructure, Bosch Building Technologies brings a deep understanding of the requirements facing modern production and development sites, from maximizing operational uptime to protecting mission-critical assets. Its integrated approach provides Deutsche Aircraft with a secure, resilient, and future-proof environment as it prepares the D328eco for full-scale production.
Integrated portfolio for complex requirements in an airport setting
To create a safe, secure, and resilient working environment across the Leipzig facility, Bosch Building Technologies has deployed a comprehensive suite of advanced safety and security technologies tailored to the specific requirements of aircraft manufacturing. At the core of the installation are state-of-the-art fire detection systems designed to identify potential threats at the earliest possible stage and trigger rapid response measures. Early fire detection is particularly critical in large-scale production halls, logistics areas, and aircraft hangars, where safeguarding personnel and minimizing operational disruption are paramount.
The security architecture is further enhanced by integrated intrusion detection and high-definition video surveillance systems, providing continuous protection for sensitive areas while delivering greater visibility across day-to-day operations. Together, these technologies help secure valuable assets, critical infrastructure, and essential manufacturing processes.
Bosch has also implemented an intelligent access control system that ensures only authorized personnel can enter designated areas. The solution enables precise, flexible management of multiple security zones throughout the site, while high-security access points are equipped with advanced controlled-entry technologies designed to prevent unauthorized access and tailgating.
In emergency situations, the integrated systems support rapid and orderly evacuations by guiding employees and visitors along designated escape and emergency routes. Dedicated intercom systems further strengthen site safety by enabling seamless communication between entry points, security control centers, and other critical operational areas.
Completing the security framework is a network of master key depots, ensuring that essential access keys are immediately available to emergency responders when needed. This capability is particularly valuable for fire services and other first-response teams, helping accelerate intervention times during critical incidents. Together, these interconnected technologies form a unified security ecosystem that not only protects people, assets, and infrastructure, but also supports the efficient and uninterrupted operation of Deutsche Aircraft's future D328eco production facility.
