magniX powers eFlyer 2 milestone as Bye Aerospace achieves first flight
Bye Aerospace’s eFlyer 2 has completed its first flight powered by magniX’s Samson300 battery system, marking a significant step forward for electric flight training technology. Departing from Centennial Airport in Colorado, the milestone flight demonstrated the capabilities of magniX’s latest high-performance battery platform.
Designed specifically for demanding aviation applications, the Samson300 combines 300 Wh/kg energy density, more than 1,000 full-depth discharge cycles, and advanced safety features. The batteries can be integrated into a complete magniX electric propulsion system or deployed as a standalone solution for a variety of mission-critical applications.
The eFlyer 2 aims to redefine the economics of pilot training by lowering operating costs, eliminating in-flight emissions, and enabling rapid turnaround times through fast charging. With the aviation industry facing a growing need for new pilots, electric aircraft such as the eFlyer 2 could play an important role in making flight training more accessible, efficient, and sustainable.
Samson Batteries Lead on Performance and Reliability
Reed Macdonald, CEO of magniX commented: “The first flight powered by magniX’s Samson battery product is a major milestone, demonstrating the exceptional performance of our technology. I would like to congratulate the team at Bye, who are doing important work applying the low-cost of operation and increased reliability of electric aircraft to the flight training market.”
Rod Zastrow, CEO of Bye Aerospace stated: “The successful first flight of the eFlyer 2 marks a major milestone for Bye Aerospace and demonstrates the progress being made across the electric aviation industry. We're proud to have achieved this milestone with magniX's Samson battery technology onboard. We look forward to continuing our work together as we expand the eFlyer 2 flight test program and move toward certification.”
