Air France claims to work more

Pilots flying on medium-haul projected to increase from 585 hours to 690 hours per year (+ 18%) and on long-haul, from 685 hours to 780 hours per year (+ 14%). As for hostesses and stewards, the efforts demanded by management are quite similar.

Air France management stated: to return to profit growth, pilots and flight attendants will have to fly more without earning more. As for flight attendants, efforts demanded by management are quite similar: they should spend 550-650 hours per year on medium-haul (+ 18.2%) and 650-750 hours per year (+ 15 %) on long-haul. To achieve this, the Management proposes to reduce the number of days off per month, among cabin crew (flight attendants), to increase the limit of flying hours per month from 80 to 90 hours per month .
Final stretch of negotiations.
The company personnel enters the final stretch of negotiations to implement the Plan Perform 2020. This plan is expected to produce an operating profit of € 750 million in 2017.
The deadline for negotiations is set for September 30th. If agreement won't be reached, management will then go to "Plan B" that means to reduce by 10% the number of its long-haul flights and to make forced redundancies. Main source of profits for the company, long-haul flights in turn plunge into the red: now 50% are profitable. The management will detail the job cuts on October 5.
