Shanghai-Moscow Flight Returns Due to Medical Emergency
China Eastern Airlines (MU) flight MU591 from Shanghai to Moscow returned to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) after reaching Mongolia's airspace today due to a passenger onboard suffered illness, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The Moscow-bound aircraft is estimated to take off from Shanghai at 11:55 a.m. and its actual takeoff time was 12:31 p.m. with over half a hour's delay. As a passenger suffered illness and felt unconformable, the flight crew member communicated with the patient's family and decided to divert back to Shanghai from over Mongolia's airspace.
The Registration B-2566 B767-300 aircraft has landed in Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 8:23 p.m., according to VeryZhun, China's leading flight status provider.
