Wizz Air shareholders approve order for 110 Airbus A321neos
Wizz Air’s shareholders have approved the proposed purchase of 110 Airbus A321neos from Airbus during a general meeting held on Nov. 3.
The airline’s owners voted 100% in favor of the aircraft acquisition during the meeting, which was held at Wizz Air’s Geneva offices.
Wizz Air signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the aircraft at the Paris Air Show in June and finalized the order in September.
“We welcome the approval of our shareholders of this important transaction which means we can continue to build on our strong market position in Central and Eastern Europe. The new aircraft will enable us to sustain our cost advantage through cabin innovations, the latest engine technology and other efficiency improvements, while enhancing our customer offering and experience. The agreement with Airbus also provides significant flexibility to match our fleet to our growth requirements,” Wizz Air CEO József Váradi said.
Wizz Air, which will disclose its interim results on Oct. 4, operates a fleet of 63 Airbus A320 aircraft across its network of 22 bases and 390 routes.
