Barbers Point Flight School goes “All with Tecnam” becoming US launch customer for Tecnam P2006T NG
Tecnam announced a significant fleet expansion for Barbers Point Flight School, a premier flight training organization located on Oahu, Hawaii. Already operating two Tecnam P2010aircraft, BPFS is expanding its fleet with two P-Mentors (scheduled for delivery in Q1 2026) and the P2006T NG Sport (scheduled for early 2027). This strategic move solidifies the school’s commitment to providing the most advanced training platforms available.
Following the P2006T NG’s official US launch, which immediately sparked tremendous interest from both Flight Training Organizations and private customers seeking the next generation of multi-engine efficiency, Barbers Point acted decisively to secure the first position, becoming the US Launch Customer for Tecnam P2006T NG Sport.
Reginald Perry, Principal of Barbers Point Flight School, commented on the decision to transition the fleet to Tecnam: “My family and I have been to the Tecnam factory in Italy twice and were impressed with the Tecnam Museum and the Pascale family’s long history of innovation and growth. Tecnam’s pioneering approach is admirable and refreshing at a time when nothing has changed with some manufacturers. The full-IFR P-Mentors and P2006T NG aren’t just cost-effective platforms but inspiring and even sexy! We’re looking forward to building our alliance with Tecnam in the years to come. Barbers Point Flight School, Hawaii is going all in with Tecnam!”
Walter Da Costa, Tecnam Chief Sales Officer, stated: “We are incredibly proud to support Reginald Perry and the team at Barbers Point Flight School. Operating over the Pacific Ocean requires a level of safety and reliability that cannot be compromised, and it is an honor that BPFS has chosen Tecnam to meet those rigorous standards. By integrating the P-Mentor and the P2006T NG Sport, Barbers Point is not only optimizing their operational costs but providing their students with the most advanced, safe, and ‘inspiring’ training platforms available today. We welcome them to the Tecnam family and look forward to seeing our aircraft flying over the beautiful Hawaiian islands.”
Operating out of John Rodgers Airfield since 2010, Barbers Point Flight School has established itself as a pillar of aviation training in the Pacific. With approximately 140 active students and a waitlist of 91, the school is managing high demand, having graduated nearly 200 students with FAA practical test passes since 2022. To meet this demand while combating the high variable costs of operating in the Pacific, BPFS is deepening its reliance on Tecnam’s modern, fuel-efficient fleet.
The addition of the P-Mentor allows BPFS to offer modern IFR training on a cost-effective platform, while the P2006T NG Sport provides a seamless transition to multi-engine ratings using the most efficient twin-engine aircraft in its class.
This order underscores Tecnam’s growing presence in the US flight training market, offering solutions that balance environmental sustainability, economic efficiency, and superior flight characteristics.
