New logistics center enables Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey to grow further

Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey relies on the expertise of Timbra and Goldbeck for its growth. The construction and service company Goldbeck, in cooperation with the real estate project developer, the Timbra Group, is realizing a new forward-looking expansion of warehouse and logistics capacities for the aircraft engine maintenance specialist in Alzey, Rhineland-Palatinate. The construction work, which began in March, has now been officially inaugurated. The new building will serve as a storage and logistics center for aircraft engines and engine spare parts for Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey. This will expand the already 242,000 square feet of factory premises with an additional logistics area of approximately 110,000 square feet.

The 100% subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG repairs and overhauls engines for regional and business aircraft as well as the latest generation of engines for medium-range jets in Alzey. Additionally, it offers further services such as a round-the-clock On-Site Service or leasing solutions. The project developer for this project is Timbra real estate project development Alzey.

Tobias Baumgart, Chief Operating Officer of Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey commented: “More and more customers from all over the world want to have their engines overhauled by us. Sustainability plays a significant role in planning and construction. While high-tech aviation parts are ready for use in the building, a photovoltaic system on the hall roof reduces the CO2 emissions of logistics and production processes. In addition, the entire roof area is greened. The industrial underfloor heating is combined with a highly efficient heat pump. Through these measures, the building will receive a gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
