Dear customers,
As the summer season approaches, General Aviation Service would like to share some important operational information for flights to the Balearic Islands, especially Ibiza (LEIB) and Palma de Mallorca (LEPA).
For Ibiza (LEIB), operators should be aware that additional airport coordination may be required depending on the aircraft size and the planned time on stand.
Slots can normally be requested up to 15 days in advance.
For Ibiza, an additional airport authorisation / PPR is required only when both of the following conditions apply:
The aircraft wingspan is over 18 metres and the aircraft remains on stand for more than 3 hours.
This means that aircraft below 18 metres wingspan do not require this additional PPR, even if the planned time on stand is more than 3 hours. In those cases, the standard slot request procedure normally applies.
For Palma de Mallorca (LEPA), the process is more straightforward. The main requirement is the airport slot request, regardless of aircraft wingspan or time on stand.
It is also important to understand how slot coordination timing works in Spain.
There are two coordination channels:
Central coordination office (AECFA )
Used for requests outside the short-notice window, during normal working days.
Requests received from Friday at noon onward for requirements from the following Tuesday onward will not be processed until Monday, as AECFA will remain closed.
Local airport coordination department (GTR)
Used for short-notice requests.
* For same-day flights,
* GTR will process requests for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in real time starting from Friday at noon.
For Ibiza (LEIB), the local coordination window is 24 hours.
For Palma de Mallorca (LEPA), the local coordination window is 48 hours.
Understanding this difference is essential to avoid confusion, delays or incorrect routing of slot requests, especially during the summer season.
At General Aviation Service, our teams remain available to support operators, brokers and crews with slot coordination, airport procedures and full handling services across our Spanish network.
For summer flights to Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca or any other Spain
