Air Charter Services (ACS) has transported seven tonnes of plastic containers for California residents to pack belongings and evacuate their homes to escape wildfires in the North of the state.

ACS used a Boeing 737-300 from Arlington Municipal Airport in Texas to McClellan Airport in Sacramento before the containers were distributed to those in need. The wildfires in the Valley and Butte regions of Northern California have affected 150,000 acres of land, killed at least six people and destroyed thousands of properties.

ACS director of Los Angeles operations, Tom Howe says: “Time was of the essence with the operation, as otherwise the fires would have reached people’s homes before we got the boxes to them.”

He continues: “We were glad that we were able to help in some way and are thankful that the fires now seem to be under control.”
