airBaltic celebrates the opening of its technical academy

On August 29 airBaltic officially inaugurated its Technical Academy during a ceremony attended by the new students, their families, and representatives of airBaltic, as well as from Riga Technical University (RTU), and Liepaja State Technical School (LVT). The academy welcomed its first 57 students in three specialized programs, who will embark on their journey to becoming professional aircraft technicians. The opening ceremony took place in the airline’s Concors Hangar located in RIX Riga Airport.

airBaltic Technical Academy, with facilities in Riga and Liepaja, offers hands-on training focused on the modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The academy supports airBaltic's goal of recruiting and training nearly 400 new aviation maintenance professionals by 2030. With three specialized programs, the Technical Academy provides free education, the chance to combine work and studies, and guaranteed employment in a highly skilled profession. The opening of the Technical Academy marks an additional step in our internship and training collaborations with universities and is a great addition to our in-house technical training programs for newly hired professionals.

airBaltic Technical Academy’s program details:

• RTU airBaltic Program: This paid full-time onsite program is offered in partnership with Riga Technical University, renowned for its academic excellence globally. Participants will earn a professional bachelor's degree in Aviation Transport and qualify as aviation maintenance technicians, earning EASA Part-66 certificate. Financial benefits include a full salary and comprehensive industry perks, with all study and training expenses covered by airBaltic.
• LVT airBaltic Program: Conducted in partnership with Liepaja State Technical School, this program allows students to achieve a secondary vocational education degree and an EASA Part-66 certificate. Recognized as a leading vocational institution in the Kurzeme region, the LVT airBaltic Program offers salary benefits and industry perks after the first year. Tuition is funded by the state budget and airBaltic.
• airBaltic Mechanics Program: From day one, participants receive paid training and employment, working towards an EASA Part-66 certification as certified B1 and B2 technicians. This program is tailored for individuals with strong technical skills, offering a full salary, comprehensive insurance, and unique industry benefits, all funded by airBaltic.

The newly launched Technical Academy will complement the existing suite of study programs of airBaltic Training, which include the Pilot Academy, maintenance training, flight crew training, cabin crew training, ground personnel training, instructor training, and more.
