A Beijing-bound China Southern Airlines (CZ) flight made an emergency landing in Changsha on Saturday evening after a male passenger suffered from hematemesis, Xinhua News reported.
Flight CZ3755, performed by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, took off from Zhuhai Jinwan International Airport (ZUH) at 5:19 p.m., and the crew requested an emergency landing with Changsha Huanghua International Airport (CSX) when they found a man seating at the 40th row was spitting blood. The passenger was given medical assistance by staff on board.
The aircraft made a safe landing at Changsha airport at 6:30 p.m. and the ill passenger was sent to the hospital immediately.
China Southern's Hunan Branch Company confirmed that CZ3757 from Zhuhai to Beijing was diverted to Changsha, Hunan Province, due to an on-board medical emergency. The crew called ahead for medical assistance and the plane was met by medics on landing. The passenger was now out of danger after he was sent to the hospital.
The Guangzhou-based carrier apologized for the inconvenience caused by the delay.
The flight CZ3735 resumed its journey to Beijing after refueling, which took off from Changsha airport at 7:23 p.m. and arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) at 9:14 p.m., with an hour delay, according to VeryZhun, China's leading flight status service provider.
