Part of the flying experience is peering out the window to get a peek at the clouds, blue sky, and whatever city you may be traveling above. One thing you don’t want to see while gazing at the heavens? Something wrong with the engine.

The Tennessean reports that a Delta flight headed from Atlanta to Chicago had to make an emergency landing in Nashville on Sunday after encountering turbulence that triggered engine warning lights.

According to the Aviation Herald, the crew learned of the abnormal engine indications shortly after passing through turbulence near Cleveland. That’s when they decided to divert to Nashville.

Upon landing the plane was able to arrive at the gate normally and passengers deplaned. Inspection of the aircraft showed it had damage to the right-hand engine and right-hand stabilizer.

Delta said in a statement that the outermost covering of the plane’s right engine had fallen off while in the air.

The airline says it will fully investigate the incident.
