Flights have been diverted and have had to make emergency landings for a variety of reasons.
I just came across an article about one of the strangest (and most unprofessional) reasons that a Delta flight had to land.
Two female flight attendants got into a fist fight on a recent Delta flight, according to Yahoo News. Delta flight 2598 was flying from Los Angeles to Minneapolis when the captain made the decision to make an unscheduled landing in Salt Lake City.
The flight took place on January 22 and according to the article, the two FAs had a disagreement over work issues. Another woman tried to step in and also got hit by the fighting duo. This is when the pilot decided to land the plane, a Boeing 757.
There was no mention of any compensation given to the inconvenienced passengers but Delta did send out a letter apologizing for what happened.
Here is the letter:
“Some of our team members did not display their best behavior. We expect our flight crew to be nothing but courteous and professional at all times and what you experienced was far from that. I am sorry we didn’t deliver on our brand promise for you today“.
The article also didn’t mention what kind of disciplinary action was taken against the fighting flight attendants. I’d expect some pretty heavy fines or penalties to be given due to what happened.
