Raphaël Domjan and the SolarStratos solar airplane prototype team will attempt to achieve two spectacular world premieres tomorrow, Tuesday 25 August. See you in Payerne from 7am!
Raphaël Domjan and the SolarStratos team will try to make two world premieres on Tuesday morning in Payerne. Exclusively charged with solar energy, the experimental aircraft will take off from the airfield with test pilot Miguel A. Iturmendi and Raphaël Domjan, initiator and future pilot of SolarStratos.
After a brief climb, Raphaël Domjan will jump from his solar plane and perform a free fall over Payerne airfield, before landing in front of the team's base. Two world premieres will be attempted on this occasion:
First jump in history made from an electric plane
First solar free fall
SolarStratos aims to demonstrate that with current technologies it is possible to achieve feats that exceed the potential of fossil fuels: electric and solar vehicles are among the great challenges of the 21st century. The SolarStratos aircraft, which will subsequently attempt to fly in the stratosphere, opens a door to this aviation of the future and to the mobility of tomorrow.
LIVE TV will be available on the SolarStatos website, as well as at: https://livestream.com/swisslivehd/solarstratos
Flight details will be posted on the project's Facebook account: https://www.facebook.com/SolarStratos/
