Raging flames were reportedly seen over East China's Hefei Luogang Airport on Wednesday afternoon at around 5:00 p.m.

It's primarily learned that the waste electric equipment on the runway caught fire, releasing dense smoke over the airport.

Fire department has immediately sent five detachments and ten fire fighting trucks to the site, where burnt and burning area occupied an area of 200-300 square meters.

No injuries or deaths were reported.

Specific cause to the fire is still under investigation.

Hefei Luogang International Airport is the former airport serving Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province. Opened in 1977, it served as Hefei's main airport until it was replaced by the new Hefei Xinqiao International Airport (HFE) on May 30, 2013.
