Proflight Zambia has helped the rescue of a two-week old vervet monkey after poachers killed its mother.

The carrier flew the primate to Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust in South Luangwa National Park.

“We know the importance of such species and the need to protect them. Tourists travel from far to come and see them. This alone helps to boost tourism in Zambia so ensuring that they are safe and protected is important for tourism as well as the country’s development,” says Captain Phillip Lemba, Director of Government and Industry Affairs at Proflight Zambia.

The primate was found being sold on the roadside before being taken to Lusaka to be transported to South Luangwa National Park.

The carrier sees protecting wildlife as a key component in its social responsibility programme.
