Azerbaijan carrier Silk Way West Airlines has been made a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The carrier was presented with the certificate of membership at the 6th Caspian Air Cargo Summit in Baku, which took place from 5-7 October.

This certificate was given to the airline by IATA area manager for Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, Funda Calisir, to Silk Way West Airlines, chief executive officer, Kamran Gasimov.

Gasimov says that this is the great achievement for Silk Way West, as it opens new market opportunities and also in recognition of the international air cargo world.

Silk Way West Airlines has passed its first IOSA audit and will comply until January 2017. IATA’s membership now consists of 255 aviation companies from 119 countries.
