In August 2015, Singapore Airlines’ system wide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometers) improved 0.8% over last year, against a 2.1% reduction in capacity (measured in available seat kilometers). Consequently, passenger load factor (PLF) improved 2.5 percentage points to 85.6%.

PLF increased across all route regions, supported by healthy summer travel demand and promotional activities. Yield pressure remains as the competitive landscape stays challenging, and promotional activities will continue in relevant markets.

SilkAir’s system wide passenger carriage grew 16.7% year-on-year, compared to a 9.5% increase in capacity. Consequently, PLF increased by 4.7 percentage points to 76.2%. Growth in passenger carriage exceeded capacity growth for both the East Asia and Pacific Region, as well as the West Asia Region, resulting in a 5.6-point and 1.9-point increase in PLF, respectively.

Scoot’s system wide passenger carriage grew 16.9% year-on-year as compared to a 12.4% increase in capacity, as new routes were launched to Osaka via Bangkok and Kaohsiung in July 2015. Consequently, PLFincreased by 3.3 percentage points to 85.2%. In late July 2015, Scoot took delivery of its sixth Dreamliner, which is also its first 787-8.

Tigerair recorded a 3.5% year-on-year improvement in its system wide passenger carriage as compared to a 1.0% increase in capacity. Consequently, PLF increased by 2.1 percentage points to 85.1%.

Overall cargo load factor (CLF) was 1.8 percentage points lower as cargo traffic (measured in freight-ton-kilometers) declined 0.1% against capacity growth of 3.0%. Load factor improved for South West Pacific and West Asia & Africa as demand outpaced capacity change.
