Leisure carrier Small Planet Airlines GmbH obtained their German Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and will now operate flights under German registration. Small Planet Airlines Group began offering its services to the German market last autumn and from the first steps had a clear vision to establish an AOC in Germany. The German Small Planet Airlines has concluded agreements with two leading tour operators, TUI and Thomas Cook, and this summer plans to implement almost 800 flights.

“German market was a strategic step that Small Planet Group has considered for quite some time. Once the right partners with local expertise were found, company was ready to make the move. From the beginning there was the intention to establish a German air operators’ certificate and to operate flights under the German registration, basing aircraft at both main and regional airports across Germany. We are proud to say that our plans were fulfilled successfully and we can now move forward”, – Mr. Andreas Wobig, CEO of Small Planet Airlines GmbH, said.

In 2016, Small Planet Airlines GmbH will operate from two bases – Bremen and Paderborn. The fleet will consist of two Airbus A320 aircraft. Operations under German AOC will start on Friday, May 13th.

Under the agreement with Thomas Cook, company will handle over 100,000 passengers and will operate 460 flights from its Paderborn base during the summer season. Passengers will fly to Mediterranean resorts, mostly Mallorca in Spain. In total 14 weekly flights to Rhodes, Heraklion, Kos, Menorca and Burgas are planned with another partner, TUI Deutschland.

AOC in Germany will be the third Air Operator’s License for Small Planet Group which is also operating airlines in Lithuania and Poland. The company offers flights to European and Asian passengers with a fleet of 21 Airbus A320/A321 aircraft.
