SmartLynx Airlines, in partnership with Jeppesen, has launched a Flight Dispatch Training Course starting October 2023. The program, offering theoretical study and hands-on training, will take place in Riga, Latvia, and Denver, Colorado. This training course will equip students with a variety of the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in the flight dispatcher role.

The six-week FOM-2 course includes theoretical knowledge and practical on-the-job training, followed by a two-week FOM-2B module for the U.S. FAA Aircraft Dispatcher License. The curriculum covers various topics such as meteorology, flight planning, navigation, aircraft performance, meteorology, weight and balance, and many more. Experienced flight dispatchers will conduct the initial training, and after that, students will undergo an assessment by Jeppesen Academy professionals to qualify for advanced FOM-2B training in Denver, Colorado (USA). After the course, students are guaranteed a job interview at SmartLynx and, depending on availability, can have an opportunity to join for on-the-job training in a real flight dispatch environment, setting students` future success in the field.

Deniss Zilkins, Chief Operating Officer at SmartLynx Airlines, commented: "Understanding the rapidly evolving aviation landscape and the growing demand for qualified professionals, our partnership with Jeppesen represents a strategic step towards addressing the ever-present employment needs of the aviation industry and strengthening our commitment to fostering aviation education that meets industry requirements.Projections indicate that by 2028, there will be an estimated 10% increase in the demand for flight dispatchers. This is not simply a prediction but a clear indicator of the profession's persistent need and relative job security .In recent years, the aviation industry has experienced significant disruptions, including talent shortages across pilots, engineers, and cabin crew, to name just a few. As we acknowledge these challenges, we are committed to strategically investing in aviation education to bridge this gap, ensuring not only the industry's recovery but also its resilience in the face of future challenges."

The Flight Dispatch Training is scheduled to begin in October 2023 and will run through December 2023. This opportunity is open to individuals passionate about pursuing a career as a flight dispatcher and seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in aviation operations. Participants will not only receive comprehensive theoretical training but will also have an opportunity to network with industry professionals, further boosting their career prospects.

In addition to the new Flight Dispatch Training Course, SmartLynx also provides other educational initiatives. These include a comprehensive Cabin Crew Instructor training program, Cross Crew qualification, a Type-Rating for pilots, and more.
