STARLUX Airlines continues to lead the Taiwanese aviation industry by becoming the first Taiwanese carrier to obtain four IATA CEIV certifications. The airline previously received certifications for CEIV Lithium Batteries, CEIV Pharma, and CEIV Fresh, and has now been awarded the CEIV Live Animals certification. This milestone reflects STARLUX’s commitment to providing specialized cargo services with professional standards and facilities.
STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai commented: "Transporting live animals is an exceptionally specialized and challenging task. It requires strict adherence to international standards while ensuring animal safety and welfare. We are honored to receive the IATA CEIV Live Animals certification. This recognition affirms our expertise in handling special cargo and demonstrates that our transport processes and team training meet global standards. We will continue to enhance our capabilities and service details to provide trustworthy solutions for customers who require premium logistics support."
IATA established the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) program to improve standardization, safety, and regulatory compliance for special cargo types. The CEIV Live Animals certification ensures that animals are transported in a safe, healthy, and humane manner. From cargo acceptance and ground handling to transit and final delivery, it mandates strict control over temperature and safety conditions throughout the entire logistics process.
To comply with these standards, STARLUX has upgraded its transport facilities, implemented comprehensive risk assessment and contingency protocols, and provided in-depth employee training to its employees on animal welfare, emergency response, and international regulations. These efforts underscore STARLUX’s competitiveness in the special cargo transport market.
With its four CEIV certifications, STARLUX currently leads all Taiwanese airlines and is the only carrier in the nation to hold both the CEIV Fresh and CEIV Live Animals certifications. These achievements reflect STARLUX’s commitment to its core value—"Safety Is Our Attitude"—not only in passenger service but also in cargo operations. The airline is dedicated to ensuring that all shipments arrive safely, setting a new benchmark for excellence in the air cargo industry.
STARLUX currently operates cargo services using the belly space of its passenger aircraft and has demonstrated steady revenue growth. In line with global air freight trends, the airline is expanding its cargo fleet, with its first A350F dedicated cargo aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2027. Earlier this year, STARLUX exercised purchase rights for five additional A350F freighter aircraft, bringing its future cargo fleet to ten freighters to meet the surging demand for air import and export services. The airline continues to optimize its operational procedures and technology applications to deliver reliable logistics solutions to customers and partners.
