Transaero Airlines (UN, Moscow, Domodedovo) has confirmed that with effect from October 25 of this year, it will be consolidating its Moscow operations out of Moscow Vnukovo. The carrier currently operates also out of Moscow, Domodedovo. Moscow Sheremetyevo operations ended last year.
Transaero said in a statement that the move would bring with it not only commercial and logistical advantages, but also improved passenger connectivity.
"It is of particular importance that Transaero will concentrate all its operational resources in a single airport hub. This will allow enhancing the efficiency of passenger services as well as aircraft maintenance," it said.
The shift in operations is part of a restructuring programme devised by the airline's newly appointed board. Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo is in the process of acquiring 75% + 1 share in its debt-stricken rival.
