The staff of Transaero airline must be informed within the shortest possible time that they need to leave the company, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency said in a statement following a meeting on employment of Transaero workers.
"It was strongly recommended to Deputy Director General of Transaero Leonid Kligerman to inform as soon as possible the entire staff of Transaero about the need to resign from the airline," the statement said.
Transaero employees will be given an opportunity to be employed by Aeroflot and other Russian aviation enterprises and organizations without loss of length of service.
The meeting also called on the board of directors of Transaero to cooperate with the federal executive authorities and personally come to Moscow to solve the practical problems of employment of redundant employees of the airline.
Currently, 9,549 employees of Transaero had to be idle due to the employer. Besides regular staff there are employees in the regions of St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk.
Aeroflot plans to employ 6,600 employees of Transaero. Of this number 2,765 people will be employed by Aeroflot itself. The Moscow branch of the Rossiya airline is also taking active part in the employment of Transaero staff.
In the coming days, 250 flight attendants and 100 aircraft commanders of Transaero will be transferred to the Rossiya airline.
Transaero is the second largest airline in Russia. The total debt of Transaero airline is about 250 bln rubles ($3.94 bln). On October 1, the Russian government passed a decision on Transaero bankruptcy. The company ceased operation on October 26. Russian flagship carrier Aeroflot is Transaero’s operational manager. Aeroflot and other air carriers will continue to render services to Transaero passenger till December 15. Aeroflot also promised to return money for Transaero tickets sold for flights after December 15.
