The WingX Advance Q4 report revealed London Biggin Hill Airport as one of the fastest-growing business aviation airports in Europe, with a 23% year-on-year increase in departures for November, resulting in a remarkable 16% hike for 2017.

The report indicates that the average year-to-date growth for business aviation in Europe was 4.2%, making the airport’s 16% climb a notable achievement. To cap a most successful year, London Biggin Hill opened its new 60, 000 sq ft hangar this month, part of a major infrastructure development also including high-end offices and additional ramp space.

Robert Walters, business development director at London Biggin Hill Airport, says: “As the only dedicated business aviation airport within the capital, London Biggin Hill is the clear choice for business travellers into London. Our six-minute helicopter transfer to and from the city centre has been in high demand this year, offering customers the fastest and most direct route to London.

“As well as breaking ground with new facilities, the rapid growth we’ve seen is also thanks to the various businesses that make our airport a major centre for engineering and aerospace innovation. We look forward to another landmark year for London Biggin Hill in 2018.”

In addition to a surge in corporate aviation movements, this time of year is also popular for pleasure travel, with flights out of London Biggin Hill heading to seasonal destinations across Europe.

Andy Patsalides, marketing manager, London Biggin Hill Airport, adds: “At this time of year, London Biggin Hill serves as a popular point of departure for both business and holiday makers. The alpine towns of Switzerland, France and Austria are seeing a real boom, but the historical town of Chambéry in France is proving especially popular with everyone from skiing enthusiasts to art buffs and Christmas market shoppers.”
