A fire at Moscow Domodedovo Airport has delayed more than 100 flights Sept. 3. The fire broke out at 7:20 a.m. local time at the airport general contractor’s stock.
According to an airport statement, the fire area was 15 square meters, but the smoke seeped into the main terminal via the ventilation system. Domodedovo resumed operations at 9:20 a.m. local time.
By 4 p.m. local time, 116 delayed flights had departed from the airport, with an average flight delay of two hours, Domodedovo reported. It added that all other operations, including check-in and luggage sorting were operating normally.
