In need of a quick nap en route between check-in and take-off? Chalk down the seating pods in Dublin Airport's Terminal 1.

Passengers passing through the terminal may have noticed a brightening up of the old retail space near the airside Starbucks lately.

The lounge seating area, between The Loop and the 100 and 200 gates, now features a children's play area and several seating 'pods'.

The vibrant colours of the new space were partly inspired by the Disney/Pixar movie ‘Up’, recreating the colourful balloons as recessed port-hole seats.

You may notice coloured lights recessed in the walls, too - though any balloons and fanciful journeys will have to be provided yourself.

The pods have been installed as part of an ongoing upgrade of the Terminal including the spanking new 'Marquette' food court.

"Little did we know that when the area opened the space quickly turned from a children’s area to an adults chill out area, becoming the one of the most regularly tweeted aspects of the airport," according to daa.

Last year, an €8 million, 18,300-square-foot retail area opened after 18 months of development and construction in T1's airside retail zone.
