An airport in Guangdong province has seized a China-made mobile phone with a built-in cigarette lighter, the first of such items, local media reported.

Staff at Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport found a suspicious mobile phone when it went through an X-ray machine for a security check.

Its outer part reveals no difference, but it has a small panel on the back behind which hides an ignition point.

The function of lighting can be switched on or off in the menu setting, staff found.

It is not allowed on planes, and the case has been transferred to airport police.
