This April, Riga Airport handled 537 thousand passengers, while in the first four months of the year, the total number of passengers reached 1.8 million. This is 50 percent more than a year earlier, according to preliminary data on the Airport's performance. The occupancy of passenger aircraft in April still steadily exceeded the 75% mark. The most popular destinations for flights from Riga were London, Helsinki, Oslo, Tallinn, and the most popular countries were the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland and Spain.

Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board of Riga International Airport commented: “One of the advantages of Riga is our wide number of destinations, which we create in cooperation with airlines, analysing passenger demand and route development possibilities. From a total of more than 100 destinations offered this summer season, we can be proud of 42 unique regular routes that no other Baltic airport offers.”

It is the wide range of destinations that allows the flow of transfer passengers to stabilize as well – since the beginning of the year, Riga Airport has been used by a fifth of its passengers as a transfer point for onward flights. In April, the Airport handled 4 916 flights, and since the beginning of the year – 17,6 thousand aircraft, which is 14 % more than in the first four months of last year.
