Starting Thursday, Taiwan will step up its efforts to improve flight safety by employing sniffer dogs to check all aircraft departing for Europe, the Aviation Police Bureau said Wednesday.

The new measure will start with the first EVA Airways to leave for Paris on Thursday, as Taiwan seeks to improve flight safety in the wake of a series of terrorist attacks in Paris on Nov. 13, the bureau said.

The dogs will be taken on board the planes before departure to check for explosives and other dangerous items, the airport police said.

In a new video released Tuesday by the Islamic State, Taiwan's flag was seen next to that of the United States'.

The video, titled "No Respite," showed the flags of more than 80 countries that are part of a U.S.-led anti-terror coalition.

Since the Nov. 13 terrorist attacks by IS that killed 130 people in Paris, police patrols and other security measures at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport have been increased.

Because of the stepped-up security measures, travelers are advised to check in at airline counters at least a half hour earlier than usual to ensure no delays in boarding.
