As Tianjin Airlines (GS) flight GS6551 landed smoothly at Tianjin Binhai International Airport (TSN)'s second runway at 9:06 a.m. on Oct. 15, the airport's second runway 16L/34R welcomed its first flight after being put into service.

In recent years, the passenger throughout of Tianjin airport has been in the forefront among domestic airports. Its aircraft movements have surged by 10 percent year on year averagely.

To further adapt to the airport's rapid development and enhance its overall operation efficiency, Tianjin airport started the preparation work for the segregated parallel operation earlier this year.

With the second runway -- which is mainly used for landings -- put into official operation today, Tianjin airport officially initiates the segregated parallel operation model.

This operation model is beneficial to separating arrival and departure flights and decreasing aircraft conflicts above the airport. It can not only increase the airport's hourly capacity substantially, but also ease the potential air traffic control caused by takeoffs and landings at a single runway, which avoids aircraft's long waiting time on the ground and reduces flights delay efficiently.

The further optimized operation model of Tianjin airport will safeguard the flight safety and passengers' travel experience with a higher-quality support.
