The Federal Aviation Administration has issued Type Inspection Authorization (TIA) for the Cirrus Aircraft Vision SF50, indicating the agency will conduct formal tests on the aircraft’s type design, airworthiness, performance and handling properties.

Cirrus hopes to to achieve Type Certification for the Vision SF50 by the end of 2015 and begin customer deliveries shortly thereafter.

“Cirrus Aircraft’s goal of transforming personal travel and regional transportation is close at hand as the Vision SF50 enters the TIA phase of certification,” Cirrus Aircraft Innovation and Operations President Pat Waddick says. “This milestone highlights the maturity of our SF50 program and the FAA’s confidence in our ability to cross the finish line.”

The TIA comes after scrutiny of engineering designs, structural testing and flight test results that demonstrate compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations. The accumulated test hours and results deemed it safe to fly by the FAA and ready for compliance validation.
