Tamarack Aerospace received official documentation of its accomplishments last year has been awarded NAA and FAI records for two remarkable flights in their upgraded King Air 350 aircraft.  The King Air 350 was upgraded with Tamarack’s SMARTWING technology that extends wing length, adds winglets and autonomous load alleviating surfaces that instantly react to turbulence. The technology has been proven to offer as much as 33% range improvement on business jets and correspondently increases fuel savings, while improving safety and smoothing turbulence.

The first record flight was non-stop from Spokane, WA to Orlando, FL. The non-stop 2,032.8 NM flight from Idaho to Orlando took place on October 15, 2022, taking only 7 hours and 46 minutes. The second record-breaking flight was accomplished west-bound on October 21, 2022. The King Air 350 experienced headwinds and icing from Orlando to Henderson, NV, with one stop in Albuquerque, NM. The one-stop 1770.7 NM flight west against the wind from Florida to Nevada was clocked at an impressive 8 hours and 8 minutes.

Tamarack’s founder and CEO Nick Guida co-piloted both trips and says the U.S. military and potential customers for business and commercial aircraft have taken notice of Tamarack technology. Guida believes that interest will turn into more testing for certifications of new kinds of airframes and installations.

Nick Guida commented: “There has been significant interest from the military following these record-setting demonstrations last year. You know, the defense community sees a lot of value in our increased range and loiter time for important missions. Our technology isn’t only for the smaller turbo props and jets, because large transport aircraft need those benefits too. We can’t release information about who we are working with now with the military, but we’re thrilled with the outcome of the results on the King Air because it showcased for the military the value SMARTWING can bring to many platforms.”
