The LAROS-31 design bureau has been working on the development for about three years. As a basis for the project, the design bureau specialists took a series of the best Soviet-era sports aerobatic aeroplanes Su-26, Su-29 and Su-31, which were produced by the Sukhoi Design Bureau in 1983-1997.
The project roadmap consists of two stages. The first phase included work on improving the aerodynamic performance, stability and controllability of the aircraft, as well as the production and testing of the new wing. Among other things, the designers were tasked with replacing obsolete composite materials and technologies with new ones, installing modern equipment, increasing resource performance and reducing weight. "Modernization of the wing structure and profile will provide higher load-bearing properties in direct and inverted flight compared to the Su-26 and Su-31, which will lead to improved aerobatics during the aerobatics," said Oleg Larionov, President of Laros. - In addition, we will provide a sharp flow failure on the wing, which will improve the performance of corkscrew figures and corkscrew rotation.
Also within the first stage, work was done to reduce the narrowing of the wing and increase the effective area of the aileron, which will allow aviators to perform the beginning of rotation more vigorously during the performance of aerobatics. In addition, the wing fixation characteristics will be improved when the rotation stops. In addition, the LAROS-31 project provides for the possibility of introducing adaptive aileron control.
To date, the flying laboratory has been tested for static and frequency. At the second stage of the project implementation the first prototypes and pre-production models will be produced.
