The 12th International Aviation and Space Show MAKS-2015 has opened in Zhukovsky bringing together leading domestic and foreign manufacturers and developers of aircraft, radioelectronics, engines and weapons systems.

In his opening speech at the air show, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that in 2014, production in the Russian aerospace industry had grown by 20%.

"Notwithstanding the current international politics, MAKS will continue as before to provide an effective venue for business communications, promoting cooperation and finding new partners. Russia is open for fruitful business cooperation in the aerospace field," stressed the president.

The head of state announced the nation's intention to actively promote Russian made passenger and cargo aircraft in domestic and international markets. A number of major agreements to be signed at the MAKS-2015 event are related to the deliveries of the brand new Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner.

An extensive exhibition of historical aerial vehicles will capture the attention of visitors to the forum, Vladimir Putin asserts.
"A recovered Soviet-era MiG-3 and a contemporary Russian-made MiG-35 will take to the sky. It will be a great treasure for aircraft enthusiasts."

The first day of MAKS-2015 also invited the audience to attend a wide-ranging flying display show. Mi-26T2, Mi-171A2, Mi-17V5, Mi-38, Mi-28N, Mi-35M, Ka-226T, Ka-32VS, Ka-52 helicopters as well as multi-role ANSAT rotor craft took their flight over Zhukovsky,

followed by Su-34 и Su-35С, Sukhoi Superjet 100, MiG-29, Yak-130, T-50 and IL-114. The program was crowned with a show by Russkiye Vityazi (Russian Knights), Strizhi (Swifts) and Kryalia Tavridy (Wings of Tauris) aerobatic teams. The spectators were delighted to see the ‘bell’, ‘the loop the loop’ and other stunts run in a close flight formation.

After the end of the display show, Vladimir Putin made a tour of the exhibition section of the forum. The head of state lingered at the booth where Russian Helicopters had put on display the VIP-versions of the ANSAT and Mi-38 helicopters whose cabin the President decided to test for himself.

The presence of Rostec's other holding companies had not gone unnoticed. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government (Deputy Prime Minister) Dmitry Rogozin paid a visit to KRET's stand and attended the signing ceremony for the transfer of equipment to the Armed Forces made under the defensive procurement and acquisition program. The Russian Air Force received the Rychag-AV helicopter jamming station and the Krasuha ground-based multipurpose systems.

The first day of MAKS-2015 also saw the signing of the contract between Rostec and JSC Concern VKO "Almaz-Antey whereby the parties will set up a technology center for air navigation and information systems. The document was signed by Rostec's CEO Sergei Chemezov and Almaz-Antey's CEO Yan Novikov.

Rostec's CEO pinpointed that it is not just technology-sharing collaboration rather it is the creation of an integrated competency center capable of both delivering technological solutions and fusing them into a single whole.
