CAMCOPTER S-100 unmanned air system (UAS) has completed successful shipboard trials when demonstrating its compatibilities to the South African Navy.

The S-100 continued its trials last week, at False Bay, Western Cape, South Africa.

The S-100 has the ability to extend the eyes and ears of maritime commander beyond the range of on-board sensors.

The unmanned helicopter was able to conduct automatic takeoffs and landings and all required manoeuvres despite overhead and crosswinds.

The payload chosen during the trials was the Selex ES SAGE Electronic Support Measure (EMS) system, which provides support for maritime surveillance missions or anti-piracy operations.
