Sichuan International Aero Engine Maintenance Company will be set up in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, which will be Asia's largest aircraft engine maintenance base after completion of the project.
According to the project plan, the first phase of the project is expected to complete by the end of 2016, when the base will be capable of handling the maintenance work of three hundred engines, and doubled to six hundred after the second phase of the project accomplishes.
The establishment of bonded maintenance base will become highly attractive to international clients, for that it could save great time and logistics cost in the global competition. Previously, imported engines had to be transported to Hong Kong to repair, which took at least two weeks and about 250 thousand yuan, an insider said
