The rising global demand for air travel and the resulting increased need for aircraft maintenance, overhaul and repair services also leads to a growing need for personnel at Lufthansa Technik. For many decades, one cornerstone in the recruitment of new colleagues has been the internal training of new employees. This year, 321 young people are starting their training at the company's German locations.
Specifically, the company is looking for skilled workers for all areas: Mechanics, electronics technicians for devices and systems, engineers, junior staff for the logistics department and for the commercial sector. In order to secure the company's future development, the training of highly qualified employees is a central measure, because Lufthansa Technik competes with numerous other companies preparing for the changes brought by the upcoming generation shift and digitalization.
Andrea Jacobsen, Head of Entry Programs at Lufthansa Technik, commented: "Today, employees expect exciting tasks, good supervisors and colleagues, career prospects and job security. In addition, they expect comprehensive support during the training period. These features are weighted higher by them than a high training salary or benefits such as discounted flying or an international environment." Just at the end of the year, Lufthansa Technik had also expanded and modernized its training workshop at the Hamburg site in order to make the training for prospective specialists even more up-to-date and practice-oriented.
Of the total of 321 new apprenticeship or study places, 215 are directly attributable to Lufthansa Technik AG, 52 to Lufthansa Airline's MRO operations and the remaining to companies in the Lufthansa Technik Group (see list below). This year, women account for 11 percent of the apprenticeship positions and 18 percent of the study positions.
