Congratulations! Metrojet Limited breaks ground of its New Maintenance Facvility in the Philippines!

Hong Kong-based Metrojet commenced the building of its  regional expansion project - a state-of-the-art business aviation parking and maintenance facility in Clark, Pampanga, Philippines - planned to be operational in Q2 2020.

The 26,000m2 facility has been designed to provide a world class customer experience whilst maximising safety and productivity in all activities. With over 7,100m2 of hangar floor space, the facility can typically accommodate up to 10 long range business jets and up to a maximum of Boeing Business Jet or Airbus Corporate Jet.

Built to the highest international standards including a fully typhoon-proof structure and an aviation specific fire suppression system, the facility also includes over 2,500m2of customer accommodation and storage, fixed-base operator (FBO) capability and engineering support workshops and materials warehousing. With a dedicated taxi-way and parking ramp of over 11,000m2 it will provide secure and private aircraft parking, maintenance and FBO services.

“This development represents the largest investment made by Metrojet in its 21-year history, demonstrating our commitment to the development of business aviation in the Philippines. With this Clark facility, we at Metrojet are strengthening our footprint in Southeast Asia. The growing strategic importance of Clark with its freedom of operations and freeport zone enables us to provide our clients with a high quality and very competitive hangar parking and maintenance facility in the region, especially with locations such as Hong Kong and Singapore becoming increasingly expensive and having capacity constraints” commented Mr. Bruce Watson, Chief Operating Officer of Metrojet Limited.

With a 50-year lease contract, Metrojet Engineering Clark today broke ground to officially commence the construction for this new aircraft parking and maintenance facility, with the hangar being constructed by Aircraft Support Industries (ASI) under a design-build contract managed by MERx Construction,

“Clark is currently seeing rapid growth not only as a strong business district but also as an ideal aviation and logistics hub.  The ongoing expansion of the Clark International Airport positions Clark as a premier international gateway in the Philippines. I am optimistic that this will bode well for Metrojet’s new investment in Clark and for future investors from the aviation industry,” Mr. Vince Dizon, President and CEO of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority said.

“As aviation and aircraft maintenance services continue to be in high demand, we're grateful to the Philippine authorities for supporting this investment as part of the economic and innovative growth of Clark airport," said Ms Dwyn Jones, Regional Manager Operational Excellence and Special Projects  "Not only will this facility help us to provide high-quality aircraft services to our clients, but this investment represents our commitment to create local jobs and build opportunities.”
