The Norwegian Air Shuttle Group and Lufthansa Technik have signed a contract extending an existing Total Engine Support (TES®) contract. The agreement, signed on 17 September at the airline's headquarters in Oslo, covers all-inclusive services for the CFM56-7B engines powering the airline's current fleet of 115 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

According to the contract, for the next five years Lufthansa Technik will cover all planned and unplanned shop visits at its highly dedicated CFM56 engine shop in Hamburg, Germany. The agreement also includes a far-reaching engine lease management. Lufthansa Technik will secure the leasing of spare engines for Norwegian to ensure the availability during peak overhaul periods. In addition, the contract includes the regular use of Lufthansa Technik's proprietary Cyclean® Engine Wash and on-site services such as Airline Support Team AST® Engines as well as the use of the portable aerotracer device.

"We are very pleased to have signed this contract, which lays the joint foundation for a successful continued partnership with Lufthansa Technik," said Asgeir Nyseth, Chief Operating Officer of Norwegian. "In the past, we have always been able to rely on their support which guarantees us the highest technical reliability we need for our demanding flight operations."

"The contract signed with Norwegian early is definite proof of our performance," says Dr. Johannes Bussmann, Chief Executive Officer Lufthansa Technik, at the signing ceremony. "The powerful combination of high-performance shop visits and our extensive engine lease management ensures maximum availability and reliability for our long-standing customer in a dynamic market."

Lufthansa Technik has been maintaining Norwegian's CFM56-7B engines since the fleet introduction of the Boeing 737-800 in 2008. Lufthansa Technik also supports the airline's 737-800 fleet with a range of other services, including extensive airframe maintenance.
