Skandia’s King Air 200/300 soundproofing kit has received final approval from Brazil’s ANAC, opening the door for wider adoption among operators across the country. The certification extends the reach of a retrofit solution designed to significantly improve cabin acoustics and overall passenger comfort. Already approved by the FAA, EASA and TCCA, the kit has built a strong international certification pedigree since its initial FAA approval in 2017. The ANAC endorsement now allows the solution to be installed on most King Air 200 and 300 aircraft in Brazil, further strengthening Skandia’s presence in the global turboprop market.

The soundproofing package leverages Skandia-engineered acoustic materials to create a noticeably quieter cabin environment by reducing noise levels throughout all phases of flight. Offered in a customizable à la carte format, the solution can be adapted to meet the unique requirements of individual King Air operators and aircraft.

Available components include:

  • Skin damping
  • Floor damping and carpet pad
  • Thermal/acoustic insulation bags
  • Overframe blanket

Manny Valtierra, Site Manager at Skandia commented: "Brazil has a large and important King Air fleet, and we're excited to make our proven soundproofing solution available to more operators and passengers in the region. This approval reflects our commitment to engineering quieter, safer and more comfortable aircraft."

By targeting both airborne and structural noise, Skandia employs a holistic acoustic strategy that integrates damping, absorption and barrier materials into a coordinated soundproofing system. The company can also perform detailed in-flight acoustic assessments, measuring an aircraft’s noise signature under real operating conditions to develop bespoke solutions that maximize cabin quietness without adding unnecessary weight.

With soundproofing systems developed for more than 80 aircraft platforms, Skandia has established a broad portfolio of thermal and acoustic insulation products, including strip blankets, overframe blankets and specialized carpet padding. These solutions are supported by the company’s in-house engineering, testing and certification resources, ensuring seamless integration and regulatory compliance.
