StandardAero recently signed a multi-year contract with Air KBZ, a top regional and the largest private airline in Myanmar, to perform customized maintenance, repair and overhaul services for PW127M turboprop engines on the airline’s fleet of ATR72-600 regional aircraft.

The new contract covers services for both hot section inspections and overhauls with not to exceed guarantees for all the shop visits.  All engines will be serviced at StandardAero’s Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada facility and the company already has inducted its first Air KBZ engine in that facility for repairs.  The term of the contract includes MRO services through December, 2018.

“Standard Aero is delighted to build on its engine MRO business in Myanmar and proud to be part of the growth of Air KBZ’s regional network,” said Rob Cords, President of StandardAero Airlines & Fleets.  “Myanmar is an emerging market which is quickly becoming an important business center in the Southeast Asian region.  The level of cooperation we have achieved with Air KBZ has been excellent and we look forward to doing more business together in the future.”

StandardAero is a Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) Designated Overhaul Facility (DOF) and independent service provider with more than 20 years of reliable turboprop MRO experience on nearly all models of PW100 engines.

Air Kanbawza, known as Air KBZ, was established in October, 2010 with the issuance of the Permit from the Myanmar Investment Commission, in accordance with Myanmar Investment Law and launched air transport services on April 2, 2011 after obtaining its Air Operator Certificate from the Department of Civil Aviation, Ministry Of Transport, Myanmar.  Based in Yangon (the Commercial Center of Myanmar), Air KBZ serves 14 domestic destinations and one regional destination to Chiang Mai, Thailand.  The airline is owned by Kanbawza Bank.
