TARMAC Aerosave has announced the commissioning of its new engine shop in Tarbes. TARMAC Aerosave is presenting this new 59,200 sq ft installation at the MRO USA tradeshow, in Dallas from 26 to 28 April 2022. Engine line maintenance, dismantling and storage activities will be carried out in this new hangar.

A fifth hangar in Tarbes
The original site and headquarters of TARMAC Aerosave, based at Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées airport, now includes five hangars: two wide-body-capacity hangars for aircraft maintenance; two logistics hangars for storing parts removed from aircraft, and this new hangar, dedicated to the various activities related to commercial aircraft engines.
An engine-only hangar
As an aircraft service centre, TARMAC Aerosave is reinforcing its engine expertise, which very often has a separate life cycle, maintenance schedule, and owner from that of the aircraft it powers.
The dedicated engine workshop extends to 58,200 sq ft hangar, 7 m high. It has been specially designed, taking into account the environment required for storing the most sensitive aviation parts, in particular by controlling temperature and humidity.
With three separate work areas, this hangar can offer 100 storage spots for all engine types, line engine maintenance services for CFM56 and LEAP-1A/1-B engine of CFM International*, and dismantling for CFM56 family engines.
A number of engine line maintenance operations can be carried out in this new hangar: preservations, end-of-lease procedures, boroscopies, inspections, etc. With more than 170 CFM56 engines already dismantled since 2012, this new infrastructure complements TARMAC Aerosave’s global offer.
"TARMAC Aerosave is known for its expertise and care of aircraft. In order to constantly better satisfy our customers, we want to offer them quality services for engines, by devoting specific teams, tools and workshops to engines. This new hangar is part of our development policy for the three industrial sites," said Alexandre Brun, President of TARMAC Aerosave.
