40 years, 40 aircraft: Piaggio Aerospace celebrates a landmark double achievement

The year of the P.180 Avanti’s 40th anniversary has brought a second reason for celebration at Piaggio Aerospace: the sale of more than 40 P.180 Avanti EVO aircraft since the model entered service with its first customer in 2015. It is a symbolic milestone for an aircraft that has continually evolved over four decades while staying true to its distinctive identity. 

Over the past four decades, the P.180 Avanti has continually evolved, embracing advances in technology and systems while preserving the groundbreaking aerodynamic design that set it apart from the outset. The aircraft's distinctive appearance remains instantly recognizable today, reflecting the strength and longevity of the original engineering vision.

The P.180 Avanti EVO, launched in 2015, represents the most advanced iteration of the platform. Retaining the aircraft's characteristic three-surface aerodynamic configuration, the EVO introduces further improvements across the aircraft, enhancing operational efficiency and passenger experience. More than 40 Avanti EVO aircraft have been sold since the first customer delivery, serving operators worldwide in business aviation, governmental, and specialized mission applications. The P.180 family has now surpassed 270 aircraft sold across all variants, reflecting the enduring appeal of a design that has remained distinctive throughout 40 years of evolution.

While celebrating four decades of the P.180, Piaggio Aerospace is not only honoring the aircraft's legacy but also investing in its future. The company is enhancing its global support offering for Avanti I, II, and EVO operators, ensuring customers continue to benefit from reliable, end-to-end support throughout the aircraft's lifecycle.

At the same time, development is progressing on the Avanti NX, the next chapter in the evolution of the iconic twin-turboprop. With an updated flight deck, redesigned cabin, and next-generation connectivity, the NX will further expand the capabilities of the P.180 while preserving the unique characteristics that have made it one of the most distinctive aircraft in aviation.

Forty years of innovation, more than 40 Avanti EVOs sold, and a new generation taking shape: the journey of the P.180 is far from over. Entering its fifth decade, the aircraft continues to look ahead with the same pioneering vision that inspired its creation and has guided its evolution ever since.
