Two Austrian high-tech companies, the aircraft manufacturer Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH and PIDSO-Propagation Ideas & Solutions GmbH, producer of antennas, jointly developed a brand-new antenna solution.

For the first time reception of S-band and C-band frequencies has been combined in just one antenna, whereas until now two antennas were needed. Diamond Aircraft was in the need for such an antenna solution for its special mission aircraft DA42 MPP and DA62 MPP and found the perfect partner in PIDSO.

Alexander Hauthaler, Technical Director Special Mission Aircraft, Diamond Aircraft Industries Austria: “Diamond Aircraft is well known for technical refinement and innovation to offer our clients the latest technologies. Especially in terms of data communications technology is evolving very fast. That’s why we started the development of a triple band plus dual polarized antenna that will also meet future requirements. The solution we created together with PIDSO has the perfect performance and characteristics.”

PIDSO lives by the maxim to offer their customers the best possible antenna solution for their specific application as well as keeping direct and indirect costs as low as possible.

“The development of the BLADE antenna, customized to Diamond Aircraft’s needs, is a prime example of PIDSO’s way of working. Two separate antennas have been integrated in just one enclosure, which is way better for the aircraft’s aerodynamics. Furthermore original equipment assemblies as well as replacements can be done in a shorter period of time as only one antenna has to be mounted,” says PIDSO Sales Director Mag. Armin Hirsch, MBA.

“The BLADE antenna clearly shows what can be done if two local high-tech companies are working together. The dual polarized triple-band antenna with integrated lightning protection has been designed especially for MIMO meshing applications. This technology will meet various future customer demands,” adds PIDSO CEO DI Dr. Christoph Kienmayer. “The cooperation with Diamond Aircraft was always set on the highest level in a very good atmosphere. The quality of the result speaks for itself.”
