ILA 2026 marks a special milestone in the Do228 NXT program: at one of this year's biggest stages in the aviation industry, the brand-new Do228 NXT demonstrator aircraft will be unveiled to the global public for the first time in the static display area. Taking place from 10 to 14 June 2026 in Berlin, ILA 2026 brings together manufacturers, customers, and suppliers from the aircraft industry - providing the perfect platform for the world premiere of the new version of the Do228 series.
A world premiere at Europe's leading aerospace show
Following its recent successful first flight and passing all the necessary tests, the aircraft is ready for the global stage. The aircraft is currently receiving a special livery, which will be unveiled to customers and aviation fans for the first time at ILA 2026. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to see the aircraft up close in the Static Display area H4/100, where the Do228 NXT Demonstrator will be on display throughout the entire event. GA-ATS will also be present with an exhibition booth at hall D booth 305.

Designed for challenging missions
Do228 NXT is the next generation of the legendary Dornier 228 series. With a modernized cabin, numerous cockpit upgrades, a resilient supply chain, next-level avionics systems, enhanced communication options and a wide range of new special mission equipment and sensor options, the Do228 NXT is tailored to meet today's market demands across a variety of operational scenarios.
Due to its design, flight characteristics and equipment options, the Do228 NXT has virtually endless possibilities for deployment – ranging from maritime patrolling and surveillance, to disaster response and environmental monitoring, all the way to passenger and cargo transport.
Ready for the global stage
ILA is just the beginning of the Do228 NXT demonstrator’s journey. Over the next few years, the aircraft will be utilized by the OEM, General Atomics AeroTec Systems, for further flight testing and optimization, while primarily serving as a presentation and demonstration aircraft for customers and prospective buyers around the world.
The Do228 NXT demonstrator will also be showcased at numerous trade shows and events all around the world. Just a month after ILA, the Do228 NXT will make its international debut at the Farnborough Airshow (July 20 – 24) in the UK, where it will also be on static display. In this way, General Atomics AeroTec Systems aims to introduce the new aircraft and its unique capabilities to the global public.
