Saint-Etienne-based startup eenuee announced a strategic partnership with Duqueine Group, a leading player in composite materials, to accelerate the development of its 100% electric regional aircraft. First flight scheduled for 2029. the goal is quite obvious - to decarbonize air mobility connecting regions. Local governments need accessible, clean, and lightweight mobility alternatives that don't require significant public investment because of the climate emergency and the financial limitations of traditional infrastructures.
eenuee's regional electric aircraft meets these challenges:
● there is no need to spend money building any new, significant infrastructure,
● unparalleled efficiency in energy use,
● helping to make remote areas more accessible.
An excellent example of the necessity for an aerial revolution is the hilly region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, where opening up is a major concern.
An innovative structural design is the carrying fuselage
Benjamin Persiani, CEO of eenuee commented: "The carrying fuselage, the centerpiece of our innovation, is an architecture that is more difficult to build than the traditional tubular fuselage but far more effective. Now that its aerodynamic properties have been confirmed, our task is to thoroughly design it in order to obtain certification. This regional collaboration is quite beneficial. It enables us to make a significant advancement by fusing local industrial power with technical agility."
Using its established knowledge in aeronautical composites, as a significant supplier to important programs like the structures for the Airbus A350, Duqueine Group will use its industrial expertise to help this unique structure succeed.
An airplane with outstanding performance
eenuee's future regional aircraft aims to redefine short-haul air transportation:
● 11 times the energy consumption of a comparable airplane,
● 500 km all-electric range and up to 19 passengers,
● Landing and taking off on any surfaces and short runways, even rough ones,
● Very low noise levels and no in-flight emissions.
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region: a test bed for future mobility This collaboration is a component of a robust industrial innovation movement in the region. It is contributing to the development of a low-carbon aviation sector, which is crucial to Europe's energy transition and technical independence.
