At Paris Air Show 2023, record orders were received from all international aircraft manufacturers. Orders were received for a total of around 1,300 new aircraft, 1,033 of them from Airbus and Boeing alone. Among the models most in demand are short- and medium-haul aircraft, i.e. aircraft with a capacity of 150 to 220 passengers. FACC benefits greatly from this development, as lightweight solutions from FACC are used by all aircraft manufacturers. Overall, FACC's order book grew by around €400 million as a result.

Decarbonization as an innovation driver

The declared goal of the entire industry: to modernize existing fleets with more sustainable and lower-emission aircraft. Lightweight systems play a particularly important role in achieving these goals. These help to significantly reduce aircraft weight as well as to reduce aerodynamic drag through aerodynamic solutions. "The record orders achieved at the Paris Air Show demonstrate the need for new and efficient aircraft," CEO Robert Machtlinger outlines the industry trend.

Urban Air Mobility with a lot of upside

In addition to civil aviation, the presence of all major manufacturers in the Urban Air Mobility sector was also enormous. Especially in this area, new lightweight solutions and the use of electric drive systems are essential. Thanks to its early strategic orientation, FACC is excellently positioned here, and the FACC customer base is also growing in this segment. For example, FACC is building the entire aircraft structure, including fuselage and wings, for the American urban air mobility specialist Archer Aviation.

Sustained recovery of the aviation industry

"The aviation industry has shown that it can successfully overcome challenges," CEO Robert Machtlinger emphasizes the success of the Paris Air Show. As a meeting place for all industry representatives, the upcoming ramp-up of production rates was in the foreground at the international trade show. For FACC, this increasing demand confirms the forecasts of the past months, and a further expansion of production capacities in the coming years is the consequence. In addition to the 400 new employees* already added in 2022, FACC is currently looking for another 600 additional employees* for the locations in Upper Austria alone.
