Tecnam Aircraft supports Apex Aviation as it unveils the Goshawk Project at the Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition 2025. The program marks Taiwan’s first privately developed, fully integrated manned Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance platform, based on the proven Tecnam P2012 Special Mission Platform.

Designed to strengthen Taiwan’s maritime defense resilience, the Goshawk Project integrates military-grade IMSAR NSP-7 Synthetic Aperture Radar and Teledyne FLIR Star SAFIRE 380-HDc EO/IR sensors with the P2012 SMP, enabling all-weather, day-and-night wide-area surveillance and precision target identification. With detection ranges up to 340 km and resolution down to 0.1 m, the system provides unmatched persistent maritime domain awareness under even the most challenging operational conditions.

In addition, Apex introduces Taiwan’s first Airborne LiDAR Bathymetry capability using Hexagon’s HawkEye-5 system. This breakthrough technology enables high-density seabed mapping down to 50 meters, supporting applications from channel charting and port development to reef and wreck detection, offshore engineering, and national defense.

Mr. Wilson Kao Apex CEO commented: “The Goshawk Project embodies Apex Aviation’s vision of becoming a new breed of partner for Taiwan’s defense ecosystem—offering rapid capability build-up, cost-effective sustainment, and true force-multiplier effects for government and end-users.”

Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 Special Mission Platform Sales and Business Development Manager & Experimental Test Pilot stated: “The multi-mission capability of the P2012 Special Mission Platform Series is once again proven by the high-end integration of sensors and mission systems carried out by Apex in the P2012 Goshawk. The proven P2012 SMP baseline, integrated with state-of-the-art equipment, enhances Apex’s ability to deliver operational excellence and maritime resilience.”

With integration, validation, and training already completed in Taiwan, the Goshawk platform is fully mission-ready today. Its multi-layered air-sea ISR capabilities extend decision-making timelines, reduce reliance on traditional military platforms, and reinforce Taiwan’s gray-zone resilience through public-private cooperation.

Apex Aviation will showcase the P2012 Goshawk at TADTE 2025 (September 18–20, Taipei), https://www.tadte.com.tw/ inviting government leaders, industry stakeholders, and the public to discover how the P2012 SMP is shaping the future of defense and maritime domain awareness in Taiwan.
